The plastic material known as: Cellulose Acetate is a natural polymer. Sourced from a selection of renewable sources such as a certain variety of trees and cotton linters. This material has high sustainability and when “shaped” is very resilient to fatigue and wear. This Cellulose is 100% manufactured in Italy. The metal materials used is called: Beryllium Alloy. This material is stronger than steel yet lighter in weight than aluminum. In addition, there is no “nickel” incorporated in Beryllium which makes this metal 100% Hypo Allergenic.
The frames are manufactured in Italy. The process starts with the custom creation of the raw materials. All materials that are used for the Torus collection are designed and created specifically and exclusively for Torus. Torus frames combine the highest technology with old world hand craftsmanship. State of the art muti dimensional computer assisted “floating” cutting and routing techniques creates in perfect harmony, shapes, and faceting of the frames. Clean consistent and perfect lines are a result of this process. With plastic or Acetate frames the final finish is crucial. Only by hand polishing can this be achieved to our level. Each Torus frame receives a minimum of 60 minutes per frame of polishing and each frame is touched by human hands over 100 times prior to completing the final product.
